About
Dr. Gowri Aragam is a Harvard-trained psychiatrist and innovation catalyst who bridges the gap between clinical excellence and creative breakthrough. As Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF, she brings rigorous clinical expertise to unexpected spaces—from partnering with Pinterest to develop their "compassionate search" feature to lecturing at IDEO on trauma-informed design. Dr. Aragam co-founded The Stanford Brainstorm Lab for Mental Health Innovation, where she pioneered the application of human-centered design principles to mental health product development. Her work demonstrates that when clinical wisdom drives innovation from day one, breakthrough solutions emerge that actually serve the people who need them most.
Currently the creator and host of Sense of Self, a podcast exploring identity and mental health, Dr. Aragam is passionate about translating clinical insights into accessible innovations that reach beyond traditional therapy settings. She completed her psychiatry residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/McLean and has established herself as a leading voice in the intersection of mental health and technology. Through her consulting work with major tech companies, speaking engagements at prestigious institutions, and research on narrative-driven mental health interventions, she champions evidence-based innovation that prioritizes user wellbeing. Dr. Aragam believes the future of mental health lies not just in clinical settings, but in embedding psychiatric expertise throughout the products and systems that shape our daily lives.
